ASAHIFLEX IIa – The First Pentax!

The Asahiflex series were the forerunners of the Asahi Pentax. Originally introduced in 1951, this is a Model IIa, the first one with the slow speeds dial on the front, & an instant return mirror. A range of cameras not often seen.

This camera has speeds of 25-500 & B on the top dial, & 2-25 & T on the front dial. The shutter runs well at all speeds.

Lenses were Takumars either f3.5 or f2.4. This one has the faster 58mm f2.4. The optics are clean & bright with no fungus or scratches. Focusing down to 2 feet is smooth. The reflex mirror & ground glass screen are bright & clear, & there is a folding magnifier. There is an optical viewfinder on top, with the serial number 70802.

Cosmetically it is in nice condition with excellent leather & black enamel finish. The satin chrome is nice except for some light scuffing on the base.

Fully working. It comes complete with its Asahi brown leather case & instruction book. A great classic.

I sell my spare cameras as collectibles. I try & describe everything as well as possible, but most have not been tested with film.
