Here is a excellent Tiffany and Company Lap-Over-Edge sterling silver three-prong perforated fork with remnants of gold wash in the Olives acid etched design. It measures 6 7/8” and weighs 1.7 ounces or 49 grams. There are no monograms and has two holes.
This sterling piece was designed by Charles Grosjean in a Japanese aesthetic style, and every handle of the service was decorated with a different flower, fish, animal, plant, or insect. The designs for much of the decoration were inspired by Japanese design books and wood-block prints. Lap-Over-Edge is considered one of Tiffany & Co.'s most daring and innovative flatware patterns. The high costs of finishing each piece individually meant that this service was never intended for the mass market, but was produced as an exclusive line for the wealthiest Americans. These pieces were owned by Francis Woodward (1856-1906), the founder of “Jell-O”. We will be selling many pieces over the next several months. In addition to many flatware pieces, we will be offering several unique serving pieces.
I do combine shipping for items won on the same calendar day only. Once all auctions for that day are over, I will send out an invoice based on the combined weight of all items and your zip code. Please wait for my invoice.
