This
auction is for the VINTAGE 8x10-INCH BLACK AND WHITE DOUBLEWEIGHT SILVER GELATIN PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINT OF PHYSIQUE MODEL AND ASPIRING BODYBUILDER JOHN SWEENEY SHOT AND PRINTED IN 1956 BY SEMINAL BROOKLYN PHYSIQUE PHOTOGRAPHER DON YOUNG.
This rare print is in VERY GOOD condition, with very slight corner bumps and creasing, as well as notations verso that this print was used for publication in the December 1856 issue of Tomorrow's Man magazine and some hand-applied augmentation to the posing strap area that undoubtedly was done by the photographer for publication usage. It bears the photographer's BACKSTAMP verso, as shown in my second scan, as well as the accompanying handwritten notations. Use my scans as your guide. PLEASE NOTE that my scan of the photographer's business card is shown merely for reference and authentication, and it is NOT included as part of this auction.
East Coast physique photographer DON YOUNG worked under his own name and also under the name EASTERN MODEL ASSOCIATES for several years in the late 1940s and early 1950s, Don Young never quite broke through the "noise" created by some of his more widely published and commercially successful physique photography competitors and contemporaries, including Lon of New York (Lon Hanagan), Al Urban, Jack Sidney and Frank Giardina. This is quite a lovely image and as any physique photography collector will know, stamped prints by Don Young are rare.
