A very fine antique 4/4 violin with lion head, labeled David Tecchler liutaro fecit Romae anno 1720. The instrument is in ready to play condition with tears, wears but no cracks, new boxwood set up, new master made bridge and new strings. The violin has an excellent high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of intensively flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll. Rich golden amber varnish shows an amazing wooden choice. The whole length of the violin is 586 mm and the back 354 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 164 mm; middle bouts: 109 mm; lower bouts: 203 mm. The sound is very good, suitable for soloist. Shipping worldwide
