About the artist:
Rick Eckerd has been a resident artist at Grovewood Village since 1992. He is an accomplished glass artist whose work is characterized by bold, fluid color and geometric forms. A native of Florida, his interest in the ocean and underwater life are reflected in the designs of many of his teapots and vessels.

His best-known pieces are colorful, complex, nonfunctional vessel-like objects in which he takes a painterly approach to color, form, and line quality.

Rick Eckerd has been involved with numerous Asheville projects, including Highland Brewing, Wedge Brewing, and the Asheville Art Museum. He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the North Carolina Glass Center in Asheville.
