Canadian teams borrowed other Senior amateurs to build their teams and get an appreciation about some of the pre Olympic tune-up games that the Russian Olympic team played at home.

-It was the third time a Soviet team visited North America. In Nov./Dec. 1957, the Soviet national team had toured Canada and in the Jan.1959 they had been in the USA.

-"Team Moscow" was a select squad below the national team level. In other years such teams were often referred to as second national team or USSR B. The squad was a mix consisting of 1) fringe national team players and promising prospects in need of competitive seasoning and international experience, 2) veterans who had just lost their spot on the national team, and 3) players in their prime who were career B national level players that never reached the A level.
