This is a vintage cast iron Griswold No 9 skillet with the small Block logo and grooved handle.  The groove handle was the very last series of skillets produced and date the skillet to a very narrow time period, namely either 1956 or 1957. This was right before Griswold was sold to Wagner, who moved all production to Sydney Ohio. No more Erie on Griswold marked cookware after 1957. The cooking surface still retains it original factory polishing marks towards the center. There is etching from corrosion towards the outer edges at the 12 and 6 o'clock position. The surface is still very smooth to the tough. Eight sheets of printer paper slipped under one side of the pan stops movement on a polished granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin.

Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement.  If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving.
