1862 5c George Young, Young's Hotel Merchant Scrip from Boston, Massachusetts.

This note features a portrait of George Young at the center as well as two "5" protectors in red. 

George Young was born in Connecticut in 1818. His hotel was built in 1845 in the central district of Boston on Court Street. This note was redeemable in U.S. notes.

This Civil War era note grades Extremely Fine with light residue on the reverse ends.

It measures ~ 3.8" x 2.25".
