Roman Provincial Coin

SYRIA, Commagene. Samosata. Elagabalus. AD 218-222. Æ (8.86 g. 24.8 mm). Laureate head right / Two turreted and veiled busts of Tyche facing one another, eagle between them. BMC Galatia pg. 120, 36; SNG Copenhagen 21.

The presence of two busts of Tyche would suggest a link between Samosata and another city. The closest metropolis would have been Edessa in Mesopotamia, 20 miles to the east across the Euphrates.

The coin(s) in this listing are guaranteed to be authentic. I have been studying the authenticity and history of coins (both ancient and modern) for 10+ years, so you can be assured that the coin listed is authentic.
