This listing is for a 1920s scrapbook of Mary Louise Price filled with newspaper clippings, a few photos (the army blimp over Brook’s Field and a soldier, named Les, who liked to play Santa Clause) dance cards, invitations, an original hand written music score in honor of her, mini diary/date books, and much more.

It’s a wonderful, one of a kind piece of history—a time capsule of a young debutante and her friends during the roaring twenties as well as a wonderful record of who’s who in 1920s San Antonio society.

This scrapbook was created at the beginning of Mary Louise Price’s coming out ball with the San Antonio German Club and her affiliation with the Junior League. It culminates with her marriage to Kurt Beckmann as can be seen in her own wedding invitation. Evidence indicates she must have been quite a charming social butterfly from the notes, entries, telegram, her extremely busy date book and diary activities. The diary from her trip to California has fascinating history, too. In one entry, she details how she and a girlfriend are taken onto the USS New Mexico for lunch and a tour of the ship. The ship is no longer in existence and makes the entry even more noteworthy.

It’s in good antique condition with much wear but still amazingly intact for the most part. Please see photos for more details and condition. Actual colors may vary from photos. I probably have not photographed all of the pages. There are a few blank ones as well. I realized my group photos were blurry, so I’ve included some individual pages of grouped photos as well. The pages are tanned with age, quite brittle, and chipping on some of the edges. The ribbons have frayed and faded, so you’ll have to use your imagination of how vivid they must have been. The elegant invitations are still lovely, colorful and crisp for the most part. Some items have been removed (such as her ‘favorite vanity case’ ) but it appears that most of Mary Louise’s items are still pasted down or setting in place.

This book before packaging weighs over 4 1/2 pounds. I’m using calculated shipping with tracking for your convenience. I’m also adding a small fee to cover eBay shipping insurance.
