This 1940s Banner logo LG-2 is “good“ condition for its age. It has wear to the finish and heavy finish checking characteristic of this decade.

It also has some reglued braces, and a center seam separation that was professionally addressed. The bridge was heavily lifting when I got the guitar, but it has been reglued and everything is solid.

There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs to the neck. There is some finish wear in the headstock area, but it is not crack or a repair. I believe it is from a leather strap that rubbed against that area.

Apart from this guitar is original and sounds wonderful. It has that wonderful, dry, woody tone. These guitars are known for. It’s got a very fat neck characteristic of these years.

The guitar has not had a neck reset and currently does not need one. The action is very good. As mentioned above the bridge has been reglued and the saddle adjusted for proper intonation and action.  The tuners are original. The buttons are quite worn, but still functional.  There is no doubt as to the early 1940s provenance of the instrument. Gibson only use the script logo and “banner“ from about 1942-1945 However, like many LG‘s from this time, it did not get stamped with an FON. This was very common. LG guitars were considered student model and were not given the same level of attention in terms of stamps and FON as the other guitars. According to Gibson records this most commonly occurred in 1944-1945 which is the date I would estimate for the production of the instrument. 

Again, the guitar has been fully serviced and needs nothing.
