OH YEAH? is a hidden gem. Preface by Calvin Coolidge. A Depression-era book consisting of quotes from government officials, CEOs, economists, and other powerful people that attempt to downplay the severity of what would become the Great Depression. Entirely with anecdotal quotations (oh, and a few illustrations) from the luminaries of that day. OH YEAH? shows that those in positions of political leadership will stop at nothing to maintain confidence. This book is a perfect example of how events may change, but people never do. This wonderful little book portrays via the very words of those who spoke them, how economic calamity is rarely seen coming by those who are "in the know". This is a must read for anybody who thinks they can follow the markets by watching and listening to mainstream news. Incredible insight into the foolishness of man. Angly's obituary in the New York Times mentions this work as "a small satirical anthology."
Provenance: This was my grandparents book. It has been stored safely and protected on a bookshelf in a humidity controlled non-smoking and non-pet home. Time to sell.
Condition: One of the superior condition books available. Square Cornered with Tight Strongly Bound Spine. The Covers are clean and in very nice condition. Interior is clean with White Pages. No Interior Writing. The interior is in very nice shape. No rips, No tears, No moisture or insect damage. There is one page (see photos) which had a readers homemade bookmark, a newspaper clipping which left some discoloration on the abutting pages (clipping still in place and adds provenance. A Great Book with only very minimal cover wear seen in photos. The Dust Jacket is in fair condition. Frail with some tears on edges, spine and some moisture marks. See photos.
