Own a unique slice of American and Korean history. One of a kind vintage set of 600+ small black and white photos of the US's military occupation in southern Korea during the late 1940s (1945-1949), post World War II and pre Korean War.
The photos appear to have been taken by an American Army soldier. This is an incredible original set of photographs of 1940s post WW2 Korea, after the Japanese occupation and before Korea was split in two. Own a moment of history.

The occupation is known as
the United States Army Military Government in Korea (USAMGIK), which was a time of great upheaval in Korea. During their time in southern Korea, before the war, the US Army appointed one of their own military commanders as "Military Governor" of Korea.

The set includes photos of US Army soldiers playing football, playing baseball, swimming and diving with Korean children. A chunk of the photos is dedicated to a single Army football game, including during and after the game, along with a marching band.

There are a few photos of what appear to male and female members of the USO entertaining the troops.

Some photos have smoke billowing in the background across a dry landscape, some with helmeted US Army soldiers in the foreground. Photos include shots of US military vehicles and soldiers in uniform.

Over half of the photos are of Korean people in all aspects of life in 1940s Korea, Korean people, men, women, children, and Korean buildings and landscapes. The portraits include children of all ages on and near trains, in the streets, and near homes. There are a couple photos of Korean men digging trenches with American soldiers onlooking.

7th Infantry Division, XXIV Corps, Headquarters 32nd Infantry, USO, Hourglass
