Large, heavy, and stunning gold Imari antique Japanese deep charger/large bowl. 18 inches in diameter. 2 1/2 inches deep. Strung for hanging. This beautiful work of Japanese art weighs nearly 8 pounds. Purchased by my grandfather in Japan in 1968. The main colors are deep turquoise and raspberry. Handmade and handpainted, the gold Imari charger features large and finely detailed panels of golden urns, scrolls, and lotus blossoms. There are also lappet shaped panels adorned with finely-plumed birds. Covering the plate are colorful brocades, blossoms, foliage, gold vines and key fret designs. The entire plate is rimmed in gold and there are gold accents present throughout many other elements of the piece. In addition, the antique Japanese gold imari charger includes designs of auspicious mushrooms, a rare and unique element in a gold imari charger.

On the back of the charger are a small handpainted seal and spur marks, showing the plate's country kiln origin. See photos. This large art piece is all handpainted and in excellent condition. Ready to hang on the wall or display any way you wish. Absolutely no chips, scratches, or any other flaws. Strung for hanging, as it was when it was originally purchased over 50 years ago. Excellent antique condition. No chips, scrapes, or other flaws.
