MUCHA SUMMER / ROSE DOUBLE SIDED PENDANT

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Alphonse Mucha (July 24, 1860 - July 14, 1939) was a Czech painter and decorative artist. Mucha was perhaps the most defining artist of the Art Nouveau movement.

Mucha's style, characterized by twisting, swirling flower and hair motifs, set the style for poster art for a generation. He created celebrated posters for Sarah Bernhardt and designed sets and costumes for her plays.

Mucha did quite a few sets of decorative panel series images. This double sided pendant shows two images from these series.

One side is "Ete" ("Summer") from one of the Les Saisons series and the other side is "Rose" from the Flowers series.

This piece measures 1 inch by 1 7/8 inches. You are only bidding on 1 pendant. The photo shows 2 so you can see both sides.

The pendant has a different image on each side. It's two pendants in one. If it ever twists while you're wearing it...it still looks good.

The charm is handmade using a stained glass technique. The images are printed on high cotton content paper and set between 2 thin pieces of glass. It is fused together with a very thin layer of copper which acts as a conductor for a lead free solder combination of silver and tin. The charm is very durable but won't stand up to excessive pulling and tugging.  You just have to treat it with care.

The piece comes to you on a 30 inch ball chain and you can keep it long or shorten it to whatever length suits you by snipping it with a pair of scissors. The ball chain just reconnects. You could also wear it on a ribbon or cord and it would be beautiful.
