They are very easy to apply: Clean the surface, remove paper backing, and apply, smoothing with your hand or a dry cloth. (instructions will be included with your purchase). If your walls are newly painted, wait at least 2 weeks before applying. You can decorate any flat, smooth, non-textured surface: walls, shelves, dressers, headboard, hampers, toybox, chair, waste paper basket, scrapbooks, photo albums, etc. If and when your child ever outgrows this theme, simply remove them and reapply to original paper backing to save.
