Claddagh Ring Sterling Silver Lough Mask Model  Irish Made by Fado Hallmarked

The Claddagh Ring is named after the Claddagh Village in Galway on Ireland's West Coast.

The ring contains 3 elements

The Heart represents Love

The Hands represent Friendship

The Crown represents Loyalty

The motto of the ring is "Let love, Loyalty and Friendship reign"

If the ring is worn with the heart facing inwards it means the wearer's heart belongs to another.

If worn with the heart facing outward it means the wearer's heart is free!

This ring which is named after Lough Mask is similar to our Erne ring

apart from the pierced band which represents Celtic Knotwork.

Celtic knots are a symbol of Strength and Protection and are very important in Celtic life.

This ring is beautifully made here in Ireland and carries the Hallmark of the Dublin Assay Office.

The Assay office has operated from Dublin Castle since 1637.

It is important to distinguish between a Hallmark and a .925 stamp.

When a seller declares the ring is stamped 925 it carries no guarantee of the purity of the silver.

However when a piece of jewellery is Hallmarked it means the piece has been tested for purity and is stamped in the Dublin Castle Assay Office. It is the oldest form of consumer protection.
