• Bizarre Life, Volume 1, Number 8

We've previously listed Bizarre Life 1, 2, 9 and Remix, an anthology containing select features from issues 5, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 17. The current offering consists of material that we have not previously presented in any form. With excellent content and comprehensive presentation, this is the best Bizarre Life we've done to date.

Bizarre Life 8 was suggested by one of our first customers and, after search and expense, we're pleased he mentioned it. It's one of the most enjoyable issues in the series.

Several original pictorials show attractive models resolving household conflicts while wearing stockings and high heels. Stills from contemporaneous films show women in bizarre costumes and situations. In letters and snapshots, readers describe their preferences and experiences.

Fiction consists of three short stories, including “Man Maid,” each of which is introduced by a Gene Bilbrew illustration, plus episode five of Miss Marchant's Diary. The exotic footwear in illustrations by an artist named Avila will please high-heel fans.

Bizarre Life was probably the first full-sized, lifestyle magazine, and many esoteric interests are explored in this issue, including cross-dressing (voluntary and not), dominant females and domestic discipline. Rubber and leather fetish attire as well as corsets, stockings and high-heeled shoes and boots punctuate nearly all pictures and prose.

The magazine is presented in  two ebooks. The close digital replica shows all 98 complete, monochrome pages (plus color covers) as they appear on the old paper. Every word and picture is included.

A second ebook presents each photograph and illustration on a separate, wide ebook page that fills the screen. Intended to minimize the need for zooming and scrolling, the optimized version often repeats an enlargement of choice details beside the original photograph or on the following page. Using the good photography and carefully composed costumes as its source, the optimized ebook makes the most of the high quality images in this issue.

PROCESS
I scanned each page at 600 dpi grayscale (covers in RGB color) and reduced the resolution to 155 dpi. I adjusted the tonality of the photos. These ebooks could be considered a better read than the original because the monochrome adjustments brighten and enlarge the images and disclose detail.

The scans were assembled as a book in a publishing program. Then, the file was exported to Acrobat .pdf format. Acrobat files are opened in Acrobat Reader, available without charge for both PC and MAC platforms at adobe.com. You can run an image viewer or video program at the same time you flip through the pages of an ebook in Acrobat Reader. Reader allows zooming and rotation. If you prefer paper pages to desktop images, Acrobat allows you to print .pdf pages.

DELIVERY

Delivery of the CD is by mail. When multiple ebooks are purchased, all ebooks will be sent on a single CD or DVD, ready for viewing on your PC or MAC.
