This is the hard to find tall type, that makes it easier to install T12 tubes,

not the "shorty" typically found these days,  

and allows T12 some air space between the tube and the fixture,

increasing lamp life.

 It also decreases the possibility of lamp and socket breakage by providing some clearance.

360 degree turn is possible,

allowing for perfect positioning of lamp for solid connection.

We have found that it is not a good idea for fluorescent tubes to touch the fixture at any point other than the socket.
