I think this is the original 1st edition, although not expressly stated so in the text, made in USA.

5 3/4 by 8 3/4" black hard cover with gilded title on the spine, double map end papers of the Missionary Journeys of St Francis Xavier,  both front and back inside covers, 319 pages including bibliography in the back. It is one of the best works weitten on the incredible missionary journeys to the Far East of this early Jesuit, a disciple of St Ignatius Loyola.

Condition graded Very Good to Almost Fine, with text very fresh, clean and unmarked. It was a library book from a Catholic institution, however, with card pocket still in the back, yellow and black dust cover remnant (see photo #1) and the blank white library dj and protective acetate is also included.- a classic in spiritual biography.
