Product description

Antique Nippon NPSK Hand Painted Portrait Comport Compote Moriage Jeweled Rococo

Offered here is an antique pre‒Nippon NPSK portrait comport or compote that was made at some point in the 1880s. The Nagoya Potteries company operated only briefly before shutting down which makes beautiful pieces such as this one quite rare. This compote is decorated in a rococo type design with rich gold moriage and elaborate scrollwork. Six equally spaced large and small sections with hand painted flowers. The veiled woman in the center was done in transfer. Overall one of the more luxurious and rare pieces that we’ve seen.

Measures 9 1/2” Diameter x 4 3/8” High
