Who/What: ... WWII Patriotic Be Alert Soldier Camp Crowder Maryland 1945 W.R.Tharp Louisville. I believe Tharp was a patriotic cover artist. This is a printed design although it looks hand drawn . Glue toning present.

An Important Note About WWII Patriotic Covers: Aside from a few large printing companies, most WWII patriotic covers were printed in editions of 500, often 100 or less! During the Civil War, patriotic covers generally were printed in the many thousands per design, many more than could be or were postally used during the Civil War period and we see many offered today, unused at bargain prices.
This was not the case with WWII patriotic covers which were often printed by patriotic individuals in very small quantities. Worldwide interest in these patriotic covers has been steadily growing and eventually collectors will pay much higher prices for these gems than we see today.
The covers picturing Hitler, Tojo, Hirohito, blatant anti Japan sentiment and Mussolini have growing collector followings. The old adage, buy the most expensive items now and pick up the less expensive ones later is certainly true here. Also, remember: You should in most cases avoid WWII period patriotic covers that have postmarks after the end of WWII as these do not fit the proper definition of a WWII patriotic cover unless there is a compelling connection with a contemporary event of the time. Instead these WWII patriotic covers were just unused stock being mailed. Another exception could be made for Post WWII usage on important World War II anniversaries.

Seller's Sales Pitch: A fine item to add to your collection.

Please note: eBay USA and eBay.de have informed me (many different answers and interpretations of their rules ) that if you live in Germany, France, Austria or Italy, and possibly all of Europe! you are not allowed to buy Third Reich stamps that depict Hitler although they are for sale in the thousands on your home country eBay sites. Additionally, you may not buy covers that are ANTI-Hitler. It is very confusing to me but in order to protect my account, I must exclude your countries from my shipping list.  Please do not bid on these stamps or covers. Contact customer service if this is not a correct interpretation of eBay rules in your country or contact your government officials and petition them to allow stamps collectors to be stamp collectors without restrictions.

Important Foreign Shipping Note
All foreign mailings must now use the USPS International First Class Small Parcel rate when applicable by size and weight instead of the cheaper USPS International First Class Letter rate that I have used for 10 years to save postage charges for international customers. This unfortunate action by the USPS has significantly increased the postage charges for foreign locations. I am sorry for this USPS decision that will now affect not only me but also so many of my foreign friends who have made purchases from me in the past by raising the cost of international business dealings. Postage cost refunds will be given when warranted but these refunds will only be a few dollars depending upon what part of the world the USPS service is covering.
