These 1996 Honda CR80RB Clear Plastic Fuel Filters are unique by design. They have two shoulders / steps on both the in and out side of the filter, The small step is 1/4" and the larger step is 3/8" allowing for many uses, Just slide the fuel line on until it is snug then clamp it down.
