Nach dem erfolgreichen Börsengang 1996 hatte der damalige Vorstandsvorsitzende der Leica AG nur FÜNFZEHN am Börsengang massgeblich beteiligten Bankern und anderen Personen das Angebot gemacht, eine solche Leica zu bestellen.
Nur etwa 10 haben von diesem Angebot Gebrauch gemacht.

Somit die bei Weitem seltenste Version der Leica M6, und zudem noch von Leica selbst initiiert (nicht im Auftrag eines Größkunden zum Beispiel).

After their successful IPO in 1996, the at that time chairman of the board of the Leica company offered to 15 Bankers and other people that had been substantially involved in the IPO, to order such a chrome M6 "ein Stück Leica".

Only about 10 made use of this offer, so this beeing the by far rarest M6 version ever officially produced.
Furthermore initiated by Leica themselves (not upon special order by big customers, as many of the other limited editions are).
