PATENT PENDING

This kit will fit the Honda 300EX and the Honda 300X. It will not fit a Honda 400EX or 400X. It is meant to allow you to use 400EX shocks on a 300EX if used with 400EX a-arms and tie rods or if you use it with our 300EX widening kit.

This kit includes only the upper shock conversion components.  If you currently have our Honda 300EX/300X Widening Kit and you want to upgrade to be able to use longer shocks with that kit, then this is the kit you need to allow for those longer shocks (shocks not included).

Although we recommend one of our full widening and shock conversion kits or widening and lowering kits, we also want to give customers the pieces to experiment with different "Quad-rodding" solutions to get the modification they are after. Possible uses of this kit include:

1. Lower the ATV without widening it, by moving up the top shock mounting position. (also gives ability to quickly change the amount that is lowered)

2. Convert to 400ex a-arms, 400ex shocks (stock or aftermarket) and 400ex tie rods and this kit will relocate the upper shock mounts to the correct position as well as provide adjustability for ride height.

3. Mount longer shocks on the ATV witout any other modifications (again, we recommend doing this with our widening and shock conversion kit to allow enough room for proper shock angle)

4. Ability to adjust the "tilt" of the ATV by adjusting one shock position differently from the other for circle track racing.

5. Combine with longer a-arms to use stock shocks with custom a-arms if the a-arms usually require longer shocks.

6. If you previously purchased our widening & lowering kit, and now would like to have the shock components to widen the shocks to match the a-arm spacing.

7. If you previously purchased our widening kit for stock shocks and now you want to be able to upgrade and use longer shocks.

The unique design of the mount brackets allows the kit to bolt up to the ATV without removing any of the stock components, including the supports for the front fenders. Its difficult to see in the pictures, but the main "C" bracket that connects one side of the shock mounts to the other, is made up of two pieces of 1/4" thick steel for laminated strength. This is designed for the enormous forces created by landing motocross jumps.

Four separate adjustment heights are available just by assembling the brackets differently. This, along with the spring adjustments you will have on the 400EX shocks (sold separately on eBay) will allow you to tune the suspension to your driving conditions (rough trails, jumps, etc.). This is important, everyone's driving habits are different (as well as the rider's weight) - we need to be able to adjust our suspension. Because of the adjustments available, you could try these brackets with any stock or aftermarket shock that has 3/4 inch (19mm) wide mounts with 3/8 inch (10mm) holes. The shocks should be the range of 13 to 17 inches long.

There are products available on the internet that allow you to lower the rear of the ATV. Diamond J Customs doesn't currently offer a rear lowering kit.

Another way to purchase this kit, is to look at our eBay store to see if we are running any "Highest Bid" auctions on Shock Conversion Kits. Even if the auction kit is for a 300ex to 400ex shock conversion kit, you can purchase it and choose this kit.

Diamond J Customs' a-arm and shock widening kits are a unique approach to increasing the width of an ATV. Instead of replacing the a-arms with custom built, expensive after-market a-arms, this kit simply relocates where the a-arms and shocks mount to the frame. The precision laser-cut brackets supplied in the kit bolt to the stock mounts on the frame, and provide two sets of new mount locations for the a-arms and shocks that are 2 ¼ or 3 inches outward on each side. This provides a 4 ½ or 6 inch total increase in the width of the ATV while making use of all of the stock suspension components. Threaded extensions are also supplied to extend the steering tie rods to match the widening kit.

Some of the widening kits also include shock mount kits that are adjustable to allow the customer to vary the ride height of the ATV, utilize longer shocks, or both. There is also a universal shock conversion kit sold separately that bolts on to the rest of the kits to add some of the same adjustability.

Kits come complete with all necessary hardware and tie rod extensions that thread onto your stock tie rods and secure in place with jam nuts. Please specify if you want the tie rod extensions for the +4.5" or +6.0" setting by letting us know at the time of ordering. If we don't hear from you within a couple days, we will assume you want the +6 kit.

Shocks and a-arms are not included with any of the kits.

The kits require no cutting or welding and can be installed easily in an afternoon by a typical home mechanic. Brake lines are typically long enough for the conversion if the intermediate support on the a-arms is disconnected to provide more slack in the lines. Rerouting the brake lines around frame members to give a more direct path to the hubs can also help. Longer brake lines are available on other websites if the customer prefers to also make that modification. The following ATV's will most likely need longer brake lines for the +6" setting: YFZ450, 450R and Z400.

Some of the pictures show the ATV's with the front bumper removed so you can see the kit more easily. The bumper mounts are not affected by the kits. Stock and aftermarket bumpers should work fine with all kits.

Steel brackets are made from 1/4" thick carbon steel and are designed to be used in all types of riding and racing, including motocross. Many customers are using these kits to race every weekend. The a-arm mounting brackets are designed to be as strong as the a-arms connecting to them. The eight separate brackets work together to share the load in all directions (such as rough terrain or hooking an occasional tree on the trails). These kits ARE designed (and used) for the harsh conditions of motocross racing.

All kits come powder coated gloss black. Color choice is not available, but other colors can be painted or powder coated by the customer over the gloss black finish. Kit components go through a seven stage chemical dip cleaning process, electro-statically dipped in black primer, baked, then powder coated and baked again to a super high-strength gloss-black finish.

Like most other EBay items, you are using this "as-is" kit at your own risk, with no warranty expressed or implied. By bidding, you are agreeing to these conditions. As you can see from our feedback, we can be very helpful if you have questions before or after your purchase, and we will do everything we can to make sure you are as thrilled with this conversion kit as we are.

We are thrilled with the performance of this kit, and excited that so many others have enjoyed it as well. You won't be disappointed!!! As you can see from our feedback, these kits are for real, and we are very fair & honest people to work with!! Send us pictures of your ATV after you have installed it so we can include it on our website galleries.

Shipping & handling (including other fees) is flat rate, and our products are all preboxed and ready to ship. Combined shipping is not usually possible.

We also have awesome looking and very strong custom billet aluminum rear wheel spacers that will fit these ATV's and spread the rear 2 inches on each side. They are listed in our eBay store.

The goal of Diamond J Customs is to develop and offer products that add performance to the ATV without the enormous price tag found on other ATV aftermarket products. We do this by designing kits that will allow use of as many stock components as possible, and allow you to mount higher performing parts from other ATV’s on your model. These parts are often available at reasonable prices on eBay, saving you money. We've sold literally hundreds of these kits to other “Quad Fanatics” and from the feedback from customers on eBay, you can see that they have been more than satisfied with the products. We work hard to design products that maximize the performance of your ATV while keeping prices as low as possible. Safety is not something that will be compromised.
