The four musicians that make up Johnny Diesel & The Injectors got together in Perth, Australia in 1986 with similar goals and common frustrations. Each had been involved in cover bands, playing the club circuit, and all felt the dead end. As Johnny Diesel & The Injectors they struggled to gain an audience and a living until an 18 year old Johnny Diesel decided to take himself and his songs to a wider audience. In late 1986, he left his band behind and set out for the U.K. But Diesel got as far as Heathrow airport only to be refused entry. His next stop was the U.S.A., in fact Connecticut, where he still had some family. (Diesel was born in Fall River, MA, and emigrated to Australia at age 9.) He ended up pumping gas in America to survive, but this experience provided the inspiration to many of the cuts on this album. Diesel returned to his band in Perth in 1987 and together they crossed Australia to Sidney. They played 6 or 7 shows a week until they were picked up as an opening act to Jimmy Barnes for an extensive 6 month concert tour of Australia. A combination of this exposure, some fiery live performances, and fresh originality of their songs led them to a recording deal with Chrysalis Records. On this debut album from Johnny Diesel & The Injectors, one gets a taste of their determination and blatant ambition. This is a rock and roll record!

NOTE: When CD's were first introduced, the manufacturers packaged them in the now-standard plastic jewel cases, but then put that CD and jewel case in a large, sealed cardboard box which everyone called the "Long Box." (Approximately 6" X 12") This was so the retailer could display the CD's, which seemed so little at the time, in the same display racks as the vinyl LP Records. Plus, the long box added a little security as it was harder to steal a large object than a small one. As the LP Records disappeared from stores, so did the CD long boxes. This new, hard to find CD is still sealed in the original long box!
