Juozas Balčiūnas-Švaistas (1891 m. 30 March. ROKIŠKIS - 1978. 21 September. Los Angeles, USA) - Lithuanian writer, editor, Lithuanian army colonel.
1909-1913 studied Panevezys teachers seminary. For several years a teacher Stačiūnai. 1915 joined the teachers' institute in Stavropol.
1917 graduated from the military school in Moscow. 1924-1928 studied at Vytautas Magnus University, Faculty of Humanities.
In 1918 the Germans decided to recede from Lithuania, organized blanch city committee and the district police headquarters maintaining order.
1919-1939 served in the Lithuanian army, Colonel. 1928-1935 magazine "Warrior" editor, 1942-1944 Kaunas Municipality Education draftsman.
1941 edited the first two publications of the Lithuanian archive volumes.
1944 went abroad, since 1949 lived in the United States. He worked in the newspaper "News" version.
Many stories and Tube printed publications "reading", "Lithuania", "success to date," Lithuanian Echo "," New Romuva.
