Mercedes Sempliner is a graphic and environmentalist designer whose interest in formal structure and innate sensitivity to color have naturally led her to the fine arts. After graduating from Parsons School of Design in 1971, she worked in the department of interior design at Blum and Nezrig Architects for two years before she eventually started her own design firm. She is known for her versatlie pieces and creation of artwork that provide striking visual accents within her interior design.

This beautiful and inventive scene depicts 3 layers of rocky terrain similarly to the works of Canadian Artist Lauren Harris. She uses her passion as an avid skier and mountain climber to experience the full impact of the world's most impressive snow-clad ranges and transforms these experiences into landscapes that open our minds to something new.The delicately colored landscape, was printed in cool colors that make the details pop and creates a vibrant piece. The stark blue rocks, abruptly turn into green rolling hills and seamlessly the hills turn into white mountains. The deep blue sky blends in with the terrain of the mountains creating a truly inspiring piece of visual art.
