Arkadio Laigo was born in the family of a Ukrainian coppersmith Tallinn. Studied art education in the years 1922-1927 at the Higher Art School Pallas,
where he studied with Nikolai Triigi and Peet Aren hand. After graduating he moved to the city of Võru, where he stayed for the next ten years.
Võru period acted as a freelance artist. Moved to Tartu in 1937, he began work in the late Hando Mugasto instead Pallas graphics lecturer (1937-1941).
