This unique set came from the archives of Skybox. These are inter-office test proofs of the Double Sided Spectra-etch Foil Chase Cards that would be inserted in DC Master Series in 1994. These samples show the early stage process of making a trading card. This item would be sent out from the printer for approval by Skybox. It is in its pre-production state. As you can see in the photo as a sample of one sheet, there is a clear acetate top layer where the gold foil stamped lettering was printed (attached with tape at the top). The bottom layer is the foil etched layer. Each sheet is an uncut panel of two samples. Once produced, this card would be sealed into just one layer and then joined with a corresponding image on the back, making it a double-sided spectra etch card. These sheets are one sided (white backs). The Batman sample and the Flash sample actually have marker writing on it. The others do not.
Each sheet measures approximately 5" x 6 1/2". In this listing you get ten different sheets which represent the complete set of all etched foil images on the final set of five cards.
