By the middle of the 18th century, the borders of Armenia had become the point of confrontation for the ancient imperialism of Turkey and Persia and the new imperialism of Czar Romanov Russia. The wars between two countries so extensive and so powerful as Russia and Turkey will never fail to enlist the profound interest of the civilized world.  First published in 1953, this analysis describes the chain of conflicts that marked the region for nearly a century.

It is considered the most comprehensive and important work in English on the military operations between Russia and Turkey in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. This study begins with the Russian conquest of Caucasian and the little-documented Russo-Turkish war of 1828-1829. Then follows the campaigns fought in the Caucasian theater during the Crimean War of 1853-56 and the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78. Then begins an in-depth account of the campaigns fought in that theater during World War I, including the Turkish offensive of 1914 under Enver, the battle of Malazgirt in 1915, the battles of Koprukoy & Erzurum in 1916, and the fighting on the Caucasian Front during the last two years of the war, with coverage on the Government of SW Caucasian and the Dagistan Revolt.

This book is part of the highly collectible field of the Armenian military history.
