Михаил Павлович Цапенко (1907 — 1977) - советский украинский искусствовед.
Образование получил в Московском архитектурном институте (1935). С 1936 работал архитектором на Кавказе и в Москве,
с 1938 сотрудник Академии Архитектуры СССР; в 1951—1959 гг в Киеве возглавлял Институт теории и истории архитектуры
АН УССР и редактировал журнал «Строительство и Архитектура» (1953—1958). Его работы в основном на русском языке:
о реалистичных основах советской архитектуры, архитектуре Болгарии, новейшей советской архитектуре, кроме того,
«Архитектура Левобережной Украины XVII—XVIII веков» (1967), «Особенности строительной техники XVII—XVIII вв. на Украине»
и «Украинская гражданская архитектура XVII—XVIII века».
Титов Борис Борисович (1897–1951) - советский график, иллюстратор, дизайнер книги;
В 1920-х годах придерживался конструктивистской концепции в оформлении книги, позже выработал свой вариант стиля ар-деко.
До 1932 года состоял членом ОХР. Абсолютный рекордсмен Советского Союза по числу оформленных книг.
Был одним из самых плодовитых, оригинальных и востребованных художников книги. Самобытный график,
сумевший синтезировать очень непохожие друг на друга стилевые тенденции 20–30-х годов, определившего «графический облик»
продукции таких крупных издательств, как Госиздат, «Земля и фабрика», «Молодая гвардия», «Пролетарий».
Уже к середине 1920-х – художник добивается признания в профессиональной среде как один из ведущих столичных
«обложечников», участвует во внутрисоюзных и международных выставках. На рубеже 1920–1930-х годов количество заказов
достигает гигантских размеров; новые книги с обложками, подписанными монограммой «БТ», выходят чуть ли не ежедневно.
Художник сотрудничает с издательствами «Новая Москва», «Маски», «Недра», «Круг», «Долой неграмотность»,
«Московский рабочий», «Федерация» и другими. Со второй половины 1930-х годов невероятная активность художника
несколько снижается, стилистика его работ постепенно упрощается и нивелируется, меняется и круг заказчиков
(«Советский писатель», «Детгиз», «Музгиз», «Искусство», «Издательство Академии наук СССР»).
Mikhail Pavlovich Tsapenko (1907 - 1977) is a Soviet Ukrainian art critic.
Educated at the Moscow Architectural Institute (1935). Since 1936 he worked as an architect in the Caucasus and Moscow,
from 1938 a member of the Academy of Architecture of the USSR; in 1951-1959 he headed the Institute of Theory and History of Architecture in
Kiev Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR and edited the magazine "Construction and Architecture" (1953-1958).
His works are mostly in Russian: on the realistic foundations of Soviet architecture, the architecture of Bulgaria, the latest Soviet architecture,
in addition, "Architecture of the Left-bank Ukraine of the XVII-XVIII centuries" (1967), "Features of construction technology XVII-XVIII centuries
in Ukraine" and "Ukrainian civil architecture of the XVII-XVIII century".
Titov Boris Borisovich (1897-1951) - Soviet graphic artist, illustrator, book designer;
In the 1920s he adhered to the constructivist concept in the design of the book, later developed his own version of the Art Deco style.
Until 1932 he was a member of the Okhr. Absolute record holder of the Soviet Union in the number of issued books.
He was one of the most prolific, original and sought-after artists of the book. An original schedule,
who managed to synthesize very unlike each other style trends of the 20-30-ies, which determined the "graphic appearance"
products of such major publishing houses as Gosizdat, "Land and Factory", "Young Guard", "Proletary".
Already by the mid-1920s - the artist sought recognition in the professional environment as one of the leading metropolitan
"Skinsmen", participates in intra-union and international exhibitions. At the turn of the 1920s-1930s, the number of orders
reaches a gigantic size; New books with covers, signed monogram "BT", come out almost every day.
The artist cooperates with the publishing houses "New Moscow", "Masks", "Nedra", "Circle", "Down with illiteracy"
"Moscow Worker", "Federation" and others. Since the second half of the 1930s, the artist's incredible activity
slightly decreases, the style of his work is gradually simplified and leveled, the circle of customers is also changing
("Soviet writer", "Detgiz", "Muzgiz", "Art", "Publishing house of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR").
