Carlo Antonio Montesi(1920-). A native of Italy where he lived and worked as an artist of still life and landscape paintings. Much of his landscape work included famous historic architectural structures and ruins, of which he had a fondness, painting in the plein air style.

The Spanish Steps are a set of steps in Rome, Italy, climbing a steep slope between the Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, dominated by the Trinità dei Monti church at the top. Carlo Montesi brilliantly uses color and light to create depth and dimension to an iconic image. The image beautifully captures the scene from the famed Via Condotti across the Piazza di Spagna from the Spanish steps.
