Up for bid is a nice antique Edison Home banner case style cylinder phonograph. The exterior case (with the lid installed) measures approximately 18 inches long by 9 inches wide by 12 inches tall. The phonograph is being sold as is for parts, repair or restoration. The interior motor runs and the interior spring holds tension when it is cranked. There is no belt installed. Assume that some adjustments, repairs, or restoration work will need to be done before the phonograph will work 100% correctly. Overall the phonograph is in good condition.

The exterior case, including the lid, is very dirty and dusty throughout and shows heavy surface scratching, scuffing, general wear and finish wear throughout. The finish wear is particularly heavy on the top, front and back of the lid. There are many spots of deeper scuffing and wear throughout the lid as well. The bottom edge shows heavier wear throughout as well as many spots of nicking along the bottom edge. The banner decal shows heavy surface wear and discoloration throughout from age. The case should probably be refinished. The interior of the lid is very dirty and dusty throughout but is overall in good condition. There are some spots of deep nicking/denting on the top of the lid in various places throughout. The original handle is present on the top of the lid and is in great condition. The veneer on the left and right side edges of the lid show light to moderate flaking, roughness and wear throughout.

The bedplate is overall in good condition. The surface is very dirty and dusty throughout and shows moderate surface scratching, scuffing and wear throughout. There are some spots of grease throughout the top of the bedplate, mainly below the feedscrew and below the mandrel. Most of the original pinstriping is no longer present. There is no belt installed. The screws on the corners of the bedplate look to be replacements. All of the parts and other components look to be present on the top of the bedplate. The reproducer is an original Edison Model C. The stylus looks to be in good condition. The small metal rod connecting the needle arm to the diaphragm looks like it will need some adjustment. The reproducer is very dirty throughout and shows moderate to heavy surface scratching, scuffing, pitting, discoloration and wear throughout. It could use a good cleaning. The plating on the mandrel shows heavy surface scratching, scuffing, pitting, wear and discoloration throughout and will need a good cleaning.

The interior mechanism is overall in good condition. All of the parts and other components look to be present. There are some areas of flaking/chipping to the wood on the top edge below the wood frame surrounding the bedplate. The motor is very dirty and greasy throughout from age and could use a good cleaning. The motor is all original and has not been rebuilt, so some adjustment and/or cleaning will likely be needed to get it working properly. The motor starts right up when the start/stop brake is engaged. The motor sounds like it runs a bit loud, so some adjustment will likely be needed. The spring holds tension when it is cranked. All four of the corner securing brackets are present inside the case, but three are detached and need to be glued back into place. The belt wheel on the left side of the motor looks to be a replacement. The interior of the case is very dirty and dusty throughout and shows many spots of caked on grease throughout. It could use a good cleaning.

There is no horn or crank included with the phonograph.
