The Air Charge Temperature sensor monitors the temperature of the charged (or forced) air entering the plenum/intercooler prior to ignition and after. The sensor reads temperatures up to 1250c - 2282F. Particularly on turbo charged cars, the colder the air, the denser the charge creating more power. By fitting the sensor with one of our gauges, you can see exactly how effective mods like bigger intercoolers or ducting have on the incoming and outgoing air temperatures. The sensor, fitted with our gauges (see listing for Kits), allows you to see how efficiently your intercooler or charge cooler is working and also gives you warning should charge temperatures reach dangerous levels, allowing you to avoid situations where detonation may occur. ACT gauges are particularly useful on cars with adjustable boost. If the temps are too high, you can turn down the boost to save your engine. Likewise, if the gauge is showing lower temperatures, then you know it’s safe to crank up the boost (as long as the ECU has been mapped to manage the fuel and ignition requirements of the extra boost). This kit comes with a performance rated sensor allowing faster and more accurate readings. Customers have learned a lot about how the intercooler works, and how our intake temps change with weather, speed, and load, from using this kit. The temperature gauge measurement is cold junction compensated for high accuracy. Very few gauges on the market have the cold junction compensation circuit. Most of them cost several times more than this gauge. Gauge will also read in Fahrenheit, Changeable via calibration buttons.
