THIS LIGHT USES ONE D-CELL BATTERY. IT FITS PRETTY TIGHT SO THE BEST WAY TO INSTALL THE BATTERY IS TO REMOVE THE BULD, INSTALL THE BATTERY AND THEN PUT THE BULB BACK IN.
