Tupperware is known for many of their products being virtually liquid and air tight  which means the seals are tight fitting. You may receive an item which you are quite sure that the seal will not fit, rest assure it will fit. Tupperware addresses this in an online video called "Tupperware Seal Solution." One of the best solutions is to run the seal under very hot water then apply to container, allow to cool, the seal is now molded to the container. It is not a defect in the seal it is the nature of the seal to be very tight fitting which will allow the container to be virtually air and liquid tight.
