This listing is for a genuine French fine art bronze by L Goyeau - little information about this sculptor online but exhibited at Musée d'Orsay in Paris and known to have been active between 1890 and 1920.

A web search will find many Goyeau sculptures reproduced in terracotta or spelter (cheap zinc alloy).  This is an original bronze casting - see the underside of the base.  The detail includes his hair, detailed buttons and the seams in his hat, jacket and trousers.

Gavroche is a character in Les Miserables (book 1862, stage and screen later).  He is a street urchin neglected by his parents and during a gunfight with the French National Guard he runs for gun cartridges and is shot dead.

13½" high, base 5" x 5¼".

Free UK postage.  Elsewhere £40.
