About the Artist:
Born in 1945 in Miyazaki prefecture, Japan, Toshio Saeki embarked on his artistic journey by studying western painting at the Art Department of Hiyoshigaoka High School in Kyoto. His debut as an illustrator in the popular weekly magazine for young men, Heibon Punch, in 1970 marked the beginning of a groundbreaking career. The first publication, 'Saeki Toshio Gashu (Works of Saeki Toshio),' unveiled his unique blend of eroticism and cruelty, showcased vividly on the covers of Ninja novels authored by Futaro Yamada. A true icon of the 1970s underground culture, Saeki's modern-day ukiyo-e touch garnered international acclaim with numerous exhibitions held in the U.S. and France. Sadly, he left an indelible mark on the art world when he passed away on November 21, 2019, at the age of 74. Immerse yourself in the legacy of Toshio Saeki with this exceptional collection, a testament to his enduring influence on art and culture.
