There is a spot on his shoulder that looks like the glaze has been pealed back but how that can happen is beyond my and I have made similar items for over 20 years and have never seen this happen.  Could more likely have been the glaze popped off and landed next to the spot in the firing process.  It is NOT a Chip in the piece
