"The game is well done for the situation. Components look pretty nice for the era of its creation and have some color coding to assist organizing formations.
What is probably fairly rare among its operational scale counterparts is the singular focus on the end of the famous battle of the bulge rather than the beginnings.
Among other specifics are the movement and combat operation points that even in its day were unique until the advent of the home computer style that tends to be the standard method of defining what a unit is capable of performing in a given space of time.
That's a lot of words to say that foot formations use a smaller number of operation points and mechanized use a larger one. Units spend these points either in movement or in combat so that in effect there is no separate move and fight sequence: it is one long combination of the two.
It felt like the IGO Yougo was left behind and a more elegant system was adopted. Units could, if the number of points were available, attempt to engage a blocking enemy and clear up precious road space so that mechanized forces could wheel swiftly by and claim new territory in the enemy rear. A very handy thing if the chance to use it come up.
I never got to play it with a live opponent, but it did adapt to solo play pretty easily. Highly recommend this small footprint and fast playing title. More games could learn from the ingenuity in its design."
