An exceedingly rare early 17^th-century book consisting of historical sketches on famous historians, philosophers, and churchmen including Eusebius, Phamphilii, Ruffinus, Socrates, Theodoretus, Cyrensis, Sozomenus, Dorotheus of Gaza, Evagrius Scholasticus, and Theodorus Lector.

In 1611, Swiss theologian Joannes Jacobus collected and edited Eusebius’s ‘Church History’ who decided to include the works of these other historians and philosophers. Eusebius’s ‘Church History’ is considered the pioneering work on the history of the Church. He details the life of Jesus through Emperor Constantine’s military victories.
