A Classic Flat Cap made from Donegal Tweed.

The flat cap was a staple piece of headgear for the Irishman, warm in Winter, Cool in Summer,

you get shade from the sun and shelter from the rain.

It is reputed that some men even wore the cap to bed!

You still see pictures from the 1940's and 50's of hurling matches where the players wore flat caps.

The inner part of the cap is fully lined for comfort.

Donegal Tweed has been regarded for many years as the premium quality tweed and is used in

suit making, hat making and many other uses.

This example is from the renowned Hatman of Ireland range of top quality headwear.

Gerry the Hatman of Ireland is based here in County Galway and has many years experience making top quality headwear and other tweed items.

He has a very well deserved reputation for reliability and consistency and a strong eye for detail.

Every cap is fitted with his feather logo as you will always have a feather in your cap.

Patchwork caps evolved from a time when resources were scarce and every piece of material was used and re used.

When an item wore out it was repaired and put back into use.

We recycled before it became fashionable!

These caps are all different, because of the patchwork you will never get two caps the same.

We will endeavour, however, to send you one as close as possible to the picture.

This Cap is made up of Various colours within the Green Spectrum -

just like Ireland itself!
