Offering a pair (male and female) of genuine Poecilia wingei 'Mint Top Yellow Sword', originally collected in Laguna de Los Patos (Cumaná, Sucre State, Venezuela) by Armando Pou in 2004. These miniature type livebearers are a perfect choice for nano setup. We carefully examine each of our Poecilia wingei for specific traits that help us produce the best-looking fish possible. A sealed certificate of authenticity (COA) is available at extra cost, please contact for more details.

Poecilia wingei are very hardy and undemanding in aquaria and the usual freshwater tropical set-up & parameters will allow them to do well. They seem to especially thrive in planted tanks, as this more closely mimics their natural environment. Poecilia wingei prefers reasonably hard (10 - 15 dGH, pH 6.8 - 7.8) and warm water at 24°C - 26°C, but this is not a strict requirement. Keep in mind, the warmer the water, the faster they grow; however, this may also shorten their lifespan.

Because of their small size (even as adults) they make an excellent choice for small desktop aquariums but do enjoy a roomy environment when available to them. Poecilia wingei is a peaceful species so they get along extremely well with other peaceful fish in a community set up. Males grow up to 25 - 30 mm, and females slightly larger - up to 40 - 45 mm in size.
