Chicago Antique 1894 Map Of Edgebrook- Part of Caldwell Reserve +AreaSouth Of It. Shipped with USPS First Class Package.

We are offering a COLOR COPY of the Atlas Page Of Part Of Edgebrook neighborhood, including historical Caldwell Reserve & area South of it, from 1894It is beautiful lithograph, made of the original atlas page, that we own as well. It shows [now highly populated] area bounded by Bryn Mawr Ave. on South, Central Ave. on West, North Branch of Chicago River on North & Chicago-Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway on East. This Atlas Page was drafted when there were only two (2) Subdivisions in the area: Assessor's Division of L. 2 in Billy Caldwell’s Reserve North of the Indian Boundary Line, Ante-Fire; and Kay’s SUB, Ante-Fire as well. Also, please notice the size of the Lots - how from 13.50 acres it came down to 25 ft wide these days!  For the age estimation we used this info: the next Subdivision in this area "Edgebrook SUB" [which was prepared by Morris L. Greeley & which we own as well] was recorded in February of 1895, thus, we believe that this Atlas Page was prepared BEFORE 1895. Totally unique historical piece! Size is appr. 15" x 15".

You will receive a color copy of a totally unique important piece of history of Chicago Metropolitan area, made on an acid-free paper, using high resolution new Canon scanner & printer.

Greeley-Howard-Norlin-Smith (est. 1854) is a family owned and operated land surveying and map making business based out of Illinois and Indiana.

Today we are pleased to offer to the public an exclusive opportunity to purchase the first batch of maps and plats from our extensive historical archives, which provide a unique perspective into the development of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.

It is well documented that the founder of our business, Samuel Greeley, personally worked with, then attorney, Abraham Lincoln as an Expert Witness in two famous Landmark court cases about land disputes near Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. We own a collection of drawing from before the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, that were used as courts’ exhibits in the above noted cases. Mr. Greeley prepared some of the Exhibits, as well as, copied and certified some other maps and plats for the courts. This collection will be available for purchase shortly.

Our private archives contain many one-of-a-kind maps, plats, atlases, instruments, tools, and books that have never been offered for sale or even seen by the public. We believe our extensive archives to be the most complete in the industry. In fact, many of these rare items have no duplicates, with some exceptions that can only be found in select libraries and museums. All of our maps, plats, and atlases are authentic products drafted by well-known and respected craftsmen.

All of these items have significant historical value and impeccable provenance.Greeley-Howard-Norlin-Smith has been the owner of these documents since their creation. Our predecessors in business either created these maps, plats & atlases, or obtained them for use in their land surveying work, which is clearly evidenced by “indexing” marking on all items. We believe that, based upon the above, we have the right to impose 20 years Copyrights restrictions on all sold items from the date of the sale, regardless of the age of these maps, plats, atlases, etc.

If you love history as much as we do - you’ll be fascinated by these maps. It’s a very rare treat for all history, geography, genealogy, maps’enthusiasts to find this archive making its way into the world.

If you wish to purchase any or all of the original items, any of the items in bulk and/or reproduction rights, please contact us – we will make you a fair deal.

As we are searching through old cabinets in our stuffed to the ceiling archival storage building, we are discovering new maps & plats every day. Please, visit our store often as we are going to add newly discovered items on the regular basis.
