3.0 DCF food bag/bear bag - Currently Spring Green 1.43oz DCF

NEW 3.0 version! Upgrades include a 3D base, an even stiffer Velcro free roll top, and lower weight.

Skye’s 3.0 DCF bear bag. A 14L tough dry bag for storing a weeks worth of food hang up out of reach of critters. If you’re American that’s bears, if your British it’s bothy mice.

Made from 1.43oz DCF, the ultimate ultralight bear bag fabric as it is (apparently) rodent resistant and it is tough enough to withstand pointy food scraping it. Skye never had to patch his over 1500 miles! DCF stands for 'dyneema composite fabric', originally designed as the ultimate sailcloth, it used to be known as 'cuben fiber' after it's inventor, cubic tech. It is rich in dyneema fiber, the strongest fibre on earth at 15X stronger than steel, typically used in aircraft armour and bullet proof clothing. This means DCF can be very, very light, whilst still being stupidly strong. It is synthesised from plants and made in just one factory in the USA.

Visiting a Scottish bothy? Hiking in America, Scandinavia or the Pyrenees? You need this to protect your food from rats and bears by hanging it up.

Specifications

Waterproofing: In the context of normal use this is waterproof. The DCF is waterproof (HH20K+), it has taped seams and a roll top construction, but it is not submersion proof. Like all manufacturers I would advise protecting moisture sensitive items with a zip lock bag, don’t use this for watersports.

About Wild Sky Gear

Wild Sky Gear was started by Skye McGregor, a British 15 year old who hiked Lands’ End to John O'Groats solo. I hiked through the winter and to keep my pack light started making my own gear and then sold some of the surplus. This turned out to be a bit more successful than I had anticipated, and now I’m constantly sewing.

PS: I really appreciate feedback on my items and service. Please let me know how everything is - I love hearing about how you're using my gear and the adventures you're going on :)
