с художественным оформлением корешка золотым тиснением и переходами тонов в отделке кожи, тонированый трёхсторонний обрез,
уголки крышек переплёта украшены кожей [вероятно этот переплёт специально изготовлен для царской библиотеки]. Комплектный экземпляр.
Очень хорошее состояние, чистая книга без подчёркиваний, пометок, загрязнений и пятен, перед портретами сохранены все 4 листа кальки,
на внутренней стороне титула и последнем листе печати латвийской академической библиотеки советского времени, небольшие потёртости
переплёта, следы времени (смотри картинки).
Экслибрис императора Александра II на форзаце книги. Оригинальный книжный знак, гравированный, четырехугольный с углами,
вырезанными полукругом внутрь. Черная печать по белой тонкой бумаге. Исполнен во II пол. XIX в. Изображен вензель «АН»
под императорской короной в сиянии на фоне облака. На обручах короны - жемчужины. Размер 58 х 68 мм.
По разным данным известно от 9 до 20 вариантов экслибрисов Александра II, отличающиеся рисунком деталей и размерами.
В конце иллюстраций, как пример, приведён экслибрис императора Александра II на форзаце книги: Журнал мануфактур и торговли.

Александр II Николаевич (1818 - 1881) - Император Всероссийский, Царь Польский и Великий князь Финляндский (1855 - 1881)
из династии Романовых. Старший сын сначала великокняжеской, а с 1825 года - императорской четы Николая Павловича и
Александры Фёдоровны.
Вошёл в русскую историю как император, реализовавший широкомасштабные реформы. Удостоен особого эпитета в русской и болгарской
историографии — Освободитель (в связи с отменой крепостного права и победой в войне за независимость Болгарии, соответственно).
Погиб в результате террористического акта, организованного тайной революционной организацией «Народная воля».

hardcover with gold-embossed spine decoration and tone transitions in leather trim, tinted three-sided bleed, cover corners decorated
with leather [probably specially made for the royal library]. Full complete copy. Please note that it is vintage book, which was printed 141 years ago,
but not more late re-edition or modern reprint. Very Fine condition, clean book without underlining, marks, dirt and stains, all 4 sheets
of tracing paper are preserved in front of the portrait, on the inside of the title and on the last sheet of print of the Latvian Academic Library
Soviet era, slight wear on the binding, traces of time (see pictures).

Black printing on thin white paper. Performed in the II half. XIX century. The monogram "AN" is depicted under the imperial crown shining against
the background of a cloud. There are pearls on the hoops of the crown. Size 58 x 68 mm.
According to various sources, from 9 to 20 variants of bookplates of Alexander II are known, differing in the pattern of details and sizes.
At the end of the illustrations, as an example, there is an ex-libris of Emperor Alexander II on the flyleaf of the book: Journal of Manufactures and Trade.

Alexander II Nikolaevich (1818 - 1881) - Emperor of All Russia, Tsar of Poland and Grand Duke of Finland (1855 - 1881) from the Romanov dynasty.
The eldest son, first of the grand ducal, and since 1825 - of the imperial couple Nikolai Pavlovich and Alexandra Fedorovna.
He entered Russian history as an emperor who implemented large-scale reforms. Awarded a special epithet in Russian and Bulgarian historiography -
Liberator (in connection with the abolition of serfdom and victory in the war for the independence of Bulgaria, respectively). He died as a result of
a terrorist act organized by the secret revolutionary organization "Narodnaya Volya".
В 1871 году Пассек познакомилась с М.И. Семевским, редактором-издателем "Русской Старины", который пригласил ее участвовать
в его журнале и поместить на его страницах составлявшиеся Татьяной Петровной воспоминания "Из дальних лет". Предложение было принято,
и "Воспоминания" с 1872 года стали печататься в "Русской Старине", в 1873 г. были запрещены, но в 1876 г. снова дозволены к печатанию.
В 1878—1879 гг. "Воспоминания" были выпущены отдельным изданием в двух томах. В последние годы при содействии близких Пассек
предприняла издание 3-го тома "Из дальних лет", который окончила за неделю до своей кончины. Воспоминания Татьяны Петровны Пассек
посвящены главным образом тридцатым и сороковым годам XIX столетия. Она превосходно описала детство, отрочество и юность своего
племянника А.И.Герцена и с большим талантом изобразила настроение и жизнь русского общества в течение нескольких десятилетий.
Эта книга пренадлежит к числу наиболее интересных и своеобразных произведений русской мемуарной литературы XIX века.
Пассек Татьяна Петровна (1810 - 1889) - писательница, автор мемуаров, жена историка и географа Вадима Васильевича Пассека,
тетка Александра Ивановича Герцена.
In 1871, Passek met M.I. Semevsky, editor-publisher of "Russian Starina", who invited her to participate in his magazine and place on its pages
the memoirs "From Distant Years" compiled by Tatyana Petrovna. The proposal was accepted, and since 1872 "Memories" began to be published
in "Russian Starina", in 1873 they were banned, but in 1876 they were again allowed to be published. In 1878-1879. Memoirs was published as
a separate edition in two volumes. In recent years, with the assistance of those close to her, Passek undertook the publication of the third volume
"From the Distant Years", which she graduated a week before her death. The memoirs of Tatiana Petrovna Passek are mainly dedicated to
the thirties and forties of the 19th century. She superbly described the childhood, adolescence and youth of her nephew A.I. Herzen and with
great talent portrayed the mood and life of Russian society for several decades. This book is one of the most interesting and original works
of Russian memoir literature of the 19th century.
Tatyana Petrovna Passek (1810 - 1889) - writer, author of memoirs, wife of the historian and geographer Vadim Vasilyevich Passek,
aunt of Alexander Ivanovich Herzen.
В правление Александра II императорские библиотеки были выделены в особое ведомство, появилась постоянная должность -
заведующий Собственными Его Императорского Величества библиотеками и арсеналами.
Собственная Его Величества библиотека в Зимнем Дворце состояла из следующих отделов:
1. Собрание изданий по части военной литературы, на русском и иностранных языках, карт, планов, чертежей, моделей и пр.
2. Собрание альбомов с портретами Августейших членов Императорской Фамилии, а также иностранных коронованных особ и частных лиц,
а также альбомы с видами Императорских дворцов и разных городов, альбомов военных, железнодорожных, юбилейных и пр.
3. Секретный архив, содержащий в себе преимущественно акты и документы Императорской Фамилии.
4. Материалы к жизнеописанию отца-Императора Николая I, составляющие по богатству своего содержания особый отдел.
5. Отчеты Министерств и Главных Управлений, с картами, планами и рисунками, а также поднесения к 25-летнему юбилею царствования
Императора Александра II.
6. Вещи, письма, книги и др. предметы воспоминаний Членов Августейшей Фамилии.
7. Архив бывшей Военно-походной Канцелярии Императора Александра II.
Личная домашняя библиотека Государя Императора Александра II находилась в Аничковом Дворце. Большой пласт книг находился
в Александрии-даче матери царя Александры Федоровны (Старшей), дворцово-паркового ансамбля на территории Петергофа,
подаренного ей супругом.
Царскосельская Дворцовая библиотека, помещающаяся в Александровском Дворце и состоящая преимущественно из беллетристических
сочинений, французских романов 1840-х годов, иллюстрированных изданий, альбомов, гравюр, литографий, литературы по истории
и географии. Существуя со времен Александра I, она по месту нахождения назначена для пользования во время пребывания Высочайшего Двора
в Царском Селе.
В любимом Императором Царскосельском Арсенале была также его личная библиотека, состоящая из замечательных первопечатных изданий,
а также из сочинений по части военного искусства, геральдики, истории костюмов, рисунков, гравюр, фотографий и галерейных изданий,
находящихся в тесной связи с изучением истории военного вооружения.
Библиотека, принадлежавшая императору Александру II, частично сохранявшаяся в Зимнем дворце, где называлась «Старой библиотекой»,
частично в Александровском дворце в Царском Селе, составляла в общей сложности 10 387 томов (5 646 названий) и являлась в значительной
степени мемориальной. Здесь наряду с рукописями, историческими документами, литературой по военному делу, сохранялись изобразительные
материалы: альбомы гравюр с портретами, видами Петербурга, императорских дворцов, местностей России. В библиотеке было, например,
250 альбомов с акварелями Орловского, Прянишникова, Зауэрвейда, Гау, Зичи и других известных художников. Здесь же находились
различные мелкие вещи, принадлежавшие самому Александру II, его супруге Марии Александровне, а также поэту В. А. Жуковскому и другим лицам,
чья судьба была в той или иной степени связана с жизнью царской семьи.
During the reign of Alexander II, the imperial libraries were allocated to a special department, a permanent position appeared -
the head of His Imperial Majesty's own libraries and arsenals.
His Majesty's own library in the Winter Palace consisted of the following departments:
1. Collection of publications on military literature, in Russian and foreign languages, maps, plans, drawings, models, etc.
2. Collection of albums with portraits of the August members of the Imperial Family, as well as foreign crowned persons and individuals,
as well as albums with views of the Imperial palaces and different cities, albums of the military, railway, anniversary, etc.
3. A secret archive, containing mainly acts and documents of the Imperial Family.
4. Materials for the biography of Father-Emperor Nicholas I, which, according to the richness of their content, make up a special section.
5. Reports of Ministries and Main Directorates, with maps, plans and drawings, as well as presentations to the 25th anniversary of the reign
of Emperor Alexander II.
6. Things, letters, books and other items of memories of the Members of the August Family.
7. Archive of the former Military Field Office of Emperor Alexander II.
The personal home library of the Tsar Emperor Alexander II was located in the Anichkov Palace. A large layer of books was in Alexandria,
the dacha of the mother of Tsar Alexandra Feodorovna (the Elder), a palace and park ensemble on the territory of Peterhof, donated to her by her husband.
Tsarskoye Selo Palace Library, housed in the Alexander Palace and consisting mainly of fiction, French novels of the 1840s, illustrated editions, albums,
prints, lithographs, literature on history and geography. Existing since the time of Alexander I, it was designated for use during the stay of the Imperial Court
in Tsarskoe Selo at its location.
The Tsarskoye Selo Arsenal, beloved by the Emperor, also contained his personal library, which consisted of excellent early printed publications,
as well as works on military art, heraldry, costume history, drawings, engravings, photographs and gallery publications that are closely connected with
the study of the history of military weapons.
The library that belonged to Emperor Alexander II, partly preserved in the Winter Palace, where it was called the "Old Library", partly in the Alexander Palace
in Tsarskoye Selo, totaled 10,387 volumes (5,646 titles) and was largely memorial. Here, along with manuscripts, historical documents, literature on military affairs,
visual materials were preserved: albums of engravings with portraits, views of St. Petersburg, imperial palaces, and localities of Russia. The library contained,
for example, 250 albums with watercolors by Orlovsky, Pryanishnikov, Sauerweid, Hau, Zichy and other famous artists. There were also various small things
that belonged to Alexander II himself, his wife Maria Alexandrovna, as well as the poet V.A.Zhukovsky and other persons whose fate was to one degree
or another connected with the life of the royal family.
