We are offering a COLOR COPY of the antique 1892 Map Of Cook Co., DuPage Co. & Lake Co., IL, that was originally made into a Booklet.

From the sub-title: “with parts of other adjacent counties. Showing Civil Townships in color, Railroads, Towns, Cities and Postal Routes.

This map also shows a copy of the Map of Chicago in 1812, with the 3 buildings’ Fort, 3 houses outside the Fort, Indian Encampment, Lees Place [with hay stacks] farther Southwest from the Fort, and Battle Ground of 1812. Also includes information about Chicago population from 1837 [City’s incorporation] to 1890. Such a beautiful map with so many details.

Of course, some areas are more difficult to figure out what they are today - as towns’ & cities’ names, in many cases, have been changed since 1892. THIS UNIQUE MAP PROVIDES MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR HISTORICAL RESEARCH!


This is a very large map, appr. 28” x 38”, that folds into a booklet. Even though it was printed on cheap, thin, yellowish paper and was kept folded in a very old file cabinet – it’s in the excellent condition.

Greeley-Howard-Norlin-Smith (est. 1854) is a family owned and operated land surveying and map making business based out of Illinois and Indiana.

Today we are pleased to offer to the public an exclusive opportunity to purchase the first batch of maps and plats from our extensive historical archives, which provide a unique perspective into the development of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.

The original founder of our business, Samuel Greeley, personally worked with, then attorney, Abraham Lincoln as an Expert Witness in two land dispute court cases. We own a collection of drawing from before the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 that were used as courts’ exhibits in the above noted cases. It is well documented that Mr. Greeley prepared some of the Exhibits, as well as, copied and certified some other maps and plats for the courts. This collection will be available for purchase SHORTLY.

Our private collections contain many one-of-a-kind maps, plats, atlases, instruments, tools, and books that have never been offered for sale or even seen by the public. We believe our extensive collection to be the most complete in the industry. In fact, many of these rare items have no duplicates, with some exceptions that can only be found in select libraries and museums. All of our maps, plats, and atlases are authentic products drafted by well-known and respected craftsmen.

All of these items have significant historical value and impeccable provenance. Greeley-Howard-Norlin-Smith have been the owner of these documents since their creation. We believe that, based upon the above, we have the right to impose 20 years Copyrights restrictions on all sold items from the date of the sale, regardless of the age of these maps, plats, atlases, etc.
