This
product allows you to transform a standard 9″ x 4″ bottom drain into an
aerator. This is ideal if are thinking of purchasing, or already have a standard 9″
x 4″ bottom drain, allowing to easily change it into an aerator at a later
date.
The
benefit of having an aerator on your bottom drain is the rising air bubbles
make an uplift that circulates the water towards the bottom drain. This makes
the bottom drain up to 30% more efficient at removing debris and waste from the
pond. Not only does this help with the performance of the bottom drain but it
also aerates the water, making for a healthier environment in your pond.
This design of bottom drain features an aerated dome with a perforated
rubber membrane. Not only does aeration benefit your pond and your fish but it
also helps with pulling debris into your sump, making it more effective. Please

The aerator on this dome is a carefully perforated rubber membrane.
Rubber membrane has been a firm favourite amongst koi and pond enthusiasts for
over decade and it’s easy to see why.
The rubber membrane is inconspicuous when situated on the bottom of
ponds. Due to the manufacturing methods used, the rubber membrane is different
to other aerators on the market. Bubbles are slowly released and larger in
size, creating a more subtle “boil” on the surface. The perforated dome offers
a large amount of surface area for aeration.
The aerator is fitted with an air input tee that will accept
flexible airline with an internal diameter (ID) of 9.5mm. This kit comes
supplied with 10m of flexible clear PVC airline (9.5mm ID/13mm OD).
We recommend the use of an air pump between 10-20 LMP for
sufficient performance.
Simply connect the airline that is attached to the bottom drain to
your air pump. For ease of assembly place the tip of the airline in warm water
for a few seconds and push onto the chosen fitting.

Changing the dome on your bottom drain is an extremely simple
process. it will be a case of removing your existing dome from the high
adjuster tube and replacing with the new one, making sure to align the spigot
of the dome to the high adjuster tube and pushing on firmly.
All
bottom drain sold by eco-filtration are manufactured by Air Care Products
(ACP). The ACP design of sump has a height adjustment tube of 50mm (OD).
Other
brands on the market have different diameter height adjustment tubes. We also
sell a range of reducing/joining bushes that will enable any of our replacement
domes to be used in conjunction with any brand of bottom drain sump.
