“Jan Križenecky (March 20, 1868 - February 9, 1921), a construction technician by trade, is best known as a Czech film director, cinematographer, businessman, and photographer. He became interested in cinema in 1896, when he saw the cinematograph of the Lumière brothers at the Prague hotel <<U Saského dvora>>. With his colleague Josef František Pokorny purchased a cinematographic apparatus and film material directly from the Lumières... He was also renowned as a photographer; he took several thousand photographs of Prague between 1902 and 1915.”
